Make a Weekend Getaway to Koh Larn
Are you a Bangkok resident who dreams of taking a quick weekend holiday on a tropical island but doesn’t have the time or inclination to travel to Phuket or Samui? Well, there’s an island just two hours away that offers white sand beaches and great accommodations and restaurants. The best thing about it is it’s not very crowded now. We’re talking about Koh Larn, just off the coast from Pattaya in the Gulf of Thailand.
Koh Larn used to be passed over as a getaway destination by Bangkok residents because of the sheer number of tourists from Pattaya that would take the ferry over and spend the day or overnight on the island.
But due to the tourism precautions brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the island is quiet and well-worth considering as a peaceful getaway destination.
Plenty of Comfortable Places to Stay
With the drop in the usual number of tourists, Koh Larn offers plenty of places to stay on the island. Spend your getaway weekend exploring the island on foot, by baht bus or by rented motorbike, or just bask the day away on a quiet beach.
Watch the sunset over the gulf at one of the restaurants along the beaches on the west side of the island. If you stay on Tawaen or Samae beaches, you can wake up and feel like you’re on a tropical island in the middle of the ocean, instead of one two hours from home.
The buses to Pattaya from the Bangkok Ekkamai station offer transport to the seaside city of Pattaya that only costs only THB 108 one-way, and the buses run from 5 AM to 11 PM. And the ferry from Pattaya out to Koh Larn is only THB 30 each way, and the ferry runs from 7:30 AM to 6 PM.
So, a visit to Koh Larn is quick and easily affordable. And it may just satisfy all your yearnings to get away from it all.
